What makes you get up every morning? What motivates you to rub your eyes open at 6:00am?
What makes you tick?
Is it the ready praises you received on your latest blog post? Is it the knowledge of having a lunch date with a friend? Is it the weekly paycheck you recieve every week?
For one to just live day by day, there has to be some type of motivation-something to keep pushing them forward. And maybe, for you, it’s one of the three things I mentioned above, or something else entirely.
Because we all have something we place our hope in, which urges us forward.
I admit, it’s good to hope for things. It’s exciting!
But are we placing our hope in the right things?
Psalm 130:5 says this: “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” (NIV)
In his Word I put my hope.
Our hope should constantly be placed in God and His word alone. Without God, what can we hope for? Our lives would be meaningless without God. There would be nothing to live for. Nothing.
Ecclesiastes 6:9 c,
“a chasing after the wind.” (NIV)
However, with God, we have this amazing hope!
1 Corinthians 15:54-57
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV)
When God is in our lives, there is no fear of death or “what if?”. When you are one of His children, there is a promise of an eternity with Him! There is HOPE.
Even creation hopes in the Lord.
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope, that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. (NIV)
So, where do you place your hope day after day?
Do you place it in:
- Your accomplishments?
- That job?
Or in the ultimate Hope??
Psalm 119: 105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (NIV)
